At first I was not looking forward to coming up with a DJ stage name. I didn't want to pick something too superficial...it had to have some sort of significance. I took into account everything - style of music, reoccurring themes in chosen genres, hobbies and interests, and I've settled on Democritus (or DJ Democritus). I really went for this name as soon as I saw the following quote (from the Wikipedia page):
Astronomy
Democritus was also the first philosopher we know who realized that the celestial body we perceive as the Milky Way is formed from the light of distant stars. Other philosophers, including later Aristotle, argued against this. Democritus was among the first to propose that the universe contains many worlds, some of them inhabited:
"In some worlds there is no Sun and Moon while in others they are larger than in our world and in others more numerous. In some parts there are more worlds, in others fewer (...); in some parts they are arising, in others failing. There are some worlds devoid of living creatures or plants or any moisture."
I think the above perspective fits psytrance and goa well, and I've grown fond of the name rather quickly, also it doesn't seem to be in use yet.
So there you have it, the internals of the process by which I've taken a DJ stage name.
Back to the tables to practice some more.... :)
